There are a lot of different types of hearing aids. Finding the right one depends on the individual needs, size, features, budget and most important the hearing loss of the patient. Very often the hearing aids from a family could be fitted into a different type of housing.
TYPES OF HEARING AIDS:

In-the-canal (ITC) and Completely-in-the-canal (CIC)
With ITCs and CICs, the whole hearing aid is placed inside the canal. ITCs are usually larger than CIC devices. CICs are extremely tiny in size and are practically invisible to an observer. ITC and CIC are custom designed to fit the wearer's ear.

Hearing spectacles, Bone conducting
This type of hearing aids are usually housed in an eyeglass frame. The frame makes contact with the mastoid part of the temporal bone and produces tiny vibrations which are being conducted by the bone and sent straight to the brain and thus bypassing the outer ear. This type of hearing aid is used to help people with chronic ear infections, congenital external auditory canal atresia and single sided deafness who cannot benefit from conventional hearing aids.
